Update at last been putting the hammer down now aiming to get the mini into paint next month. Construction of the new mk2 subframe will start next week. the first one i made was fine for mocking the engine up in relation to the car and the extent of the bulkhead modifications needed but i wouldn't want drive round combe with it. because of loosing my garage space and the car now at a professional restoration shop it makes sense while im paying rent to pay them a bit extra to do the car in quite periods so this week been up scrapping all the sound deadening of the floor and all the under seal off the bottom.
The car has had new heal boards and boot floor so we test fitted the rear subframe it fit perfect. pete does cracking work and very happy he is building this car with me. alot of the repairs he does he does not bother using panels instead bending sheet metal. Hes also very good at fabrication and we have talked about possibly building a jig and producing these frames one day. Considering he sales a kit to put a rover V8 to put in a MX5 looks like a good possibility this may be a option. Also buying tickets for London to Brighton, Rivera Run and the international mini meet along with Pickuptruck1994 so look out for both our cars there feel free to come up and have a chat.
His thread is here http://www.theminifo...city-e-rebuild/
and Petes site here http://www.jpt-class...orations.co.uk/
looking forward to Bingly Hall with a mahoosive parts list..............

Two updates one day! been working on it today the boot floor has been shultz white what looks excellent but it has come apparent that the previous owner had no idea what he was doing. on the drivers side theres a 8 inch over seal what is installed properly by removing the old sill first on the passenger side there was massive plates. after some grinding and digging found 3 layers of old plates and sills and to top it off a piece of galvanised steel making up the inner sill. The inner flinch panel at the bottom is quite badly rotten so i have ordered one of those and another 9 inch over sill to match the drivers side that we will trim down.
yes some of you maybe saying why dont you install proper original sills well the short answer is the drivers side is a neat job and the damage to the passenger side is double the width of the original sill rather than mess about with plates and the original panel, by installing the over sill both sides of the car will match and look neat and tidy with out pulling both sides of the car apart what will cost time and money i simply dont have. its a race car its not concourse so does not bother me that its not original after all the engine is not!!!. I have taken some photos of the alternator its off a toyota passo and is tiny. also painted the rear subframe its very ummmm white ..... cheers luke

Looks the same as my alternator from a Suzuki Alto. It's actually a Denso part. What's the connector on the back like? Mine has three small terminals plus the stud for the main power cable. I think I've found the connections for it but only time will tell. From what I've found it's not a self exciting one so needs a live feed before it will work.

its defo a Denso part i doubt its the same as a alto one as the passeo is a 1.5 but could be worng! i havent looked at the pins on the back for while so i cant really remember! as for the connectors if they are the same where did you find them ebay? many thanks luke :)

One of these
http://www.startermo...2181-4331-p.asp
That shows the wiring connectors that mine has. L is for the Ignition Lamp. IG is a switched live with the ignition. D is either a dummy and doesn't need a connection or some places label it S in which case it needs a permanent live as it's the "battery sense". There are sellers on ebay with what looks like the plug with a few inches of wire being sold as a "repair kit" - presumably it's a weak point in the loom on the Alto.
