According to wikipedia, for mark 3 onwards -
At the top of the page it also has this - Kerb weight 617 to 686 kg (1,360 to 1,512 lb)
But i think the later the car, the heavier it would be due to additions safety features etc
This means to get down to 500, your probably looking at around 120 kg minimum
Which is a fair bit given the trim/ useless stuff doesn't add up to much!
848cc = 610kg
1275cc = 645kg

Is that right? 587kgs is a bit light I think. My super lightweight hillclimber, with titainium suspension, GRP doors, fron end, boot and all the metal possible removed is 545kgs.
I think 700kgs for a standard car is more likely, this is what my standard car weighs anyway (I weighed it)

As will h said will be more like 700 there is nothing left on mine with everything removed carbon doors, front end, boot, boot floor and roof. again all alloy or titanium suspension and I still don't think it will be below 500

seems be loads of conflicting info on weights, I just picked those figures off a google search..
I just checked Haynes restoration manual and that give 1330 lb (604kg)
That first lot of figures I found seem to be mk1, wouldn't think it would be that big a difference
580 - 700 seems to be the range

The mini certainly got heavier through it's life, more soundproofing, biggerseats, more wiring, big servos, heater (not on an original 850), wing mirrors, windup windows, .........................................the list goes on.
700 is about right for a standard mini 80s on anyway.
