I've got a few little patches where rust is creeping through, looking for advice on best way to sort it. I'm assuming that really the only way to sort it properly is to take it to a body shop, anyone ball park me some figures?

I was going to apologise for pic quality but that's not bad for an iPhone 4!

I'm looking for how much it'd cost to sort this AND if there's anything I can do in the mean time to stop this from happening! The rust around the window wiper in particular was barely visible a couple of weeks ago and now there's a hole.

Bloody mini's!

I purchased a car years ago that had surface rust like yours and managed to keep it at bay by applying AC50 but depends on how bad it actually is, at least it will slow it down.
Once a month I "wash" my mini in AC50 on a rag and so far I am rust free. I mix AC50 with waxoyl for the inner sills and underside.
The downside is it collects dust and crud.

right gutter can be sorted by plastic padding if you rub all the rust out!!
scuttle im affraid is bad news! that cant be sorted unless you take the wings off and if the scuttle has started rusting on the outside it is seriously bad underneath

ROUGHLY £400. that's keeping repair area minimal. I can't actually see any rust in the scuttle picture.

£400!?!? ******* me.

The amount of money this car requires is seriously getting annoying now. Sigh. I'll just spray something like AC50 on them for now.

The scuttle, where the wiper goes in to the panel, there's a tiny hole of rust you can just make it out.

Wait, what's AC50? I thought you meant GT85 then I realised it wasn't, as far as Google says, AC50 is a spray adhesive?

Might hold it together?? >_<

£400 is if you pay someone to do it. Learn to weld and paint and it's very cheap. If you own a mini and you're poor, such skills are necessary!!

Ordered a can from Amazon, that'll have to do for now >.<

Oh and I will learn to weld soon, not sure I could learn to paint though, I'd never get a good finish.

Use it sparingly, it comes with a plastic tube so it can get into difficult places, 1 can should last a long time, also use it on electrical connectors and anywhere there is a seam. Its OK on plastics and rubber.

I dont agree when statements of if it's rusted on the outside its worse on the inside... That is impossible to say that as each vehicle is different, and each rust area is affected differently..
I have sorted rust before on the outside with no internal rust.
Rusting is inevitable but not ultimately a replacement panel..

I think I'll have to try ACF it for now, then find a paint shop and have some talks. Need to get the new sills welded on though and an MOT!

I'll learn to weld when I have my own house.
