Hahahaha!just spoken to highways agency about having a dropped kerb for the access to the new driveway - £200 just to get them to think about it, then between £2000 and £6000 to get an approved contractor to do the work!

i had to get planning permission to access my driveway

We had ours done when they re-did the pavements on our road, cost us a lot less seeing as they were going to replace it all anyway.

to be honest was always gonna be a tight fit putting it there, so I am considering selling my other car - 76 Lancia Fulvia Coupe that I've just finished restoring - so the Mini can go in the garage. Or leaving the Lancia outside as it's insured with a different company - and watch it dissolve into a pile of rust before my eyes!

Bloke round by me has a big bubble he puts an old austin seven in, no idea what they're called, its like a cover but its filled with air so the sides don't touch the car like a regular cover does.
Worth a look maybe?

"Carcoon"! Got one for my motorbike, but really only for long term storage, preferably undercover. I want to drive the car!

Don't know Mr Bridger's circumstances, but if he has an "Aunt Nellie" who'd qualify for mobility assistance;

dont let the thieving scum steal your mini and then make you sell your lancia because of what they have done,

surely a tracker and better security equipment can stop anyone from stealing it in the future.

and feel for your loss :( the bastards

What about one of these?
http://www.foldingga...dinggarages.htm

I managed to insure one of my cars on the drive using one of these via Classicline, I also have a car in a Carcoon which although are very good are a pain if you want to use it on a regular basis!

Only just seen this. What a sad story. Of course worse things happen but perhaps only we know how valuable (both in monetary and emotional terms) these cars are. I hope you get something sorted. As to

I cant start to think what goes through some people's head.

Unfortunately, not a lot.

Completely mis-read that URL at first. I was shocked and appalled!

Laughed a bit though.
