I'm sort of getting into this also as I got given a Fischer amp, very 70's lots of big switches etc. Just wired it up in the garage to a pair of old speakers I had in the loft, sound was amazing so now on the look out for other parts to the system

Cheers Wayne, Im gonna have a go at repairing that little hole in the left hand speaker, Ive got an idea involving some special rubbery glue

Udo, the only part of the system I use every day is the amp - the tuner and tape deck are there mainly to complete the system and look pretty

Also put an optimistic low bid on a rather special turntable that would finish the system off nicely, be good to listen to the stacks of 70's and 80's records lying around the house

Been a hellll of a long time since I updated this - since the last post Ive well and truly been bitten by the audio bug, certainly its now my other passion besides Minis - must have this system on 6 hours a day when Im at home. The system is pretty much perfect at the minute, minus a turntable. I cant seem to find a good one for an affordable price, anywhere
The amp, radio deck and tape deck are the same as before (although thoroughly serviced now) and Ive added an SH-8020 mechanical equalizer, a very rare piece of kit that I got for £20 in a charity shop, and an SH-4020 Audio timer (even rarer than the EQ) which I found on top of a neighbours rubbish a few days ago, allows me to go to sleep listening to music as it switches the system off for you at a pre-determined time.
The speakers are truly fantastic, Wharfedale Diamond 10.1's on stands, best speaker that I have personally heard, they bring so much life to all music played through them. The bases I made myself - found the black metal triangles in another neighbours skip, the granite slabs are £7 chopping boards from argos
So, the system is pretty much complete but there are a few mods Im planning for the amp to modernise it slightly :)
Most up-to date pictures, with the audio timer in place:
