Ive got to replace a rear brake cyclinder that has leaked over every thing. The thing is, I can get some stuff to clean the drum but can I do the same with the shoes and use them still?

As above, if they're contaminated they're only fit for the bin!

Nice one, I thought that. And I going to need a bucket of fluid to. I'll fix and repair anything on a mini but bleeding brakes I hate.

Be sure to replace the other wheel cylinder, as they have both had exactly the same amount of use. If one fails, the other is not far behind, and you don't want to do the job twice.

If your stuck you can boil the fluid out of the linings in a pan of water

Dont tell her indoors though.

Did the job I hate. But had a ezbleed kit and it made it easy. Changed brake fluid at the same time and the stuff that come out was cloudy and dirty, shocking!

B esure to also free off the levers inside the drums - and the connections to the cables (should swivel freely) and also free the quadrants on the trailing arms and grease the slides where the cable(s) run. Slacken back the handbrake adjustment - set up the rear brakes (free off and grease the adjusters..) and then finally re-set the handbrake adjustment. Now you have 'good as new' rear brakes - should be able to lock the wheels at 20 mph.
