Hi, does anyone have a close up photo of the brackets that attach the monte carlo type roof rack to the gutters of the roof? This type of rack.

I hope the owner of the elf doesn't mind me borrowing the photo. I have bought a very cheap roof rack but it has no fittings, i have sorted the rubber feet but just need to fab up some brackets. Unless of course, for whatever strange reason someone has just the brackets for sale. Wishful thinking I know. :whistling:

Roof racks are really great for carrying unusual loads with a Mini, but take care not to overload them of the roof can be damaged. Expect the fuel consumption and wind noise to increase a lot.
I once had a roof rack just like that and I sometimes used it on my 998 Cooper. With 2 Lotus-Cortina wheels on, going to Oulton Park, the consumption fell from about 38 mpg to 24 mpg. And that was with a 5.5 gallon fuel tank. Even empty they knock around 5 to 8 mpg from the consumption. I ever only used mine when I had a bulky load to carry (I once moved a complete single bed from N.London to Hitchin on mine).

Then I bought a bigger car and found I had friends who had vans I could borrow, so I never needed the Mini roof rack again.
