I think I have some hi-temp paint kicked about somewhere, used it on my pug's rocket cover. I had a thought last night that i should've tried and that is to see if the heat shield still fits

Judging by your pictures I don't think the heat shield will fit as it stands, where the two manifold joints meet is where the shield comes down to and your pic looks like the join is sitting tucked up behind the front bar with no clearance

Line the shield up and get the angle out and cut just above the front bar, should fit fine then

Ye i know what you mean but i meant clearance on the plug, I've already had the heat shield on before, it did take some amount of grinding down though

Ordered some seats today......might need to re-mortgage the house at this rate......they are nice though :proud:

Quick question to anyone

On the back of the honda manifold there is a pipe pointing upwards that i believe should go to the servo? However i aint using a servo so do i just put a small filter on it like the pipe coming off the rocker cover or do i blank it off?

Advice kindly taken

I'd blank it off it was me, as the ecu will not have registered the air flow. This is what I've understood from other engines anyway. Loving your build by the way

Thanks for the reply Spud, its blanked off with some masking tape at the moment and the engine seems fine with it however I don't have my MAP sensor connected up.....

Thanks for the complement, its getting there slowly. It'll be mid February by the time i can drive it, this M/C malarky is annoying

Actually, if it doesn't use a MAP sensor, and is set up without the air filter after it, it should be ok, I'd have thought...

If your not worried about looks then you can blank it off by attaching a small hose with a bolt inserted and bung a jubilee on there, proper streetz stylee :turtle:

Masking tape might get sucked in the first time you bash the middle pedal if its lightly covered!

Little update

Picked up my new seats, wanted something that wasn't too in-your-face but also something quite supportive seeing as this car may well go on a track in its life. So got these...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Really comfy and give a good driving position thanks to the subframes

Also got my alternator sorted out with a 756mm 4 pk belt, new main power wire and extended the wires for the main plug so its all sorted now.

Posted Image

Chucked my driveshafts on, feels like its coming together now, although the angle of them is insane, by which i mean they angle backwards, probably something to do with the tie rods and lower arms etc all being wrong.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Now I'm no expert on diffs etc and this didn't help when I tried to spin the wheels. The engine was in neutral but i couldn't spin the wheels, it turns a little then stops, I can remember when i was running the engine i seen the inner cvs turning very slowly. What does this mean? It does have the clutch all there and its in neutral.

Anyway thats me for now, just got to wait for the M/C :D its getting there

Yep thats the crazy angle the engine sits, its not meant to be inline with the hub, I think our engines are more tilted forward than in the civics, but thats just a room thing...

When you say about your wheels turning do you mean like this - this was when my bearings weren't 'seated' properly so be careful

Posted Image

Are you definitely sure its in neutral? Not teaching you to suck eggs here but if your gear linkage isn't hooked up yet then insert a screwdriver into where the linkage pin would go and push it in towards the dipstick - thats 4th, pull it back thats neutral then back again thats 3rd then back forward into neutral

Hello Kam,

Nah its internal, the whole driveshaft turns and then stops. It's like when you stop on a hill in a car, turn the engine off with it in reverse pull the clutch up and release the brakes it rolls a little then stops as it locks gears.....know what i mean?

It's definetly in neutral because i've got my gear linkage connected up and can get all gears etc. My worry is there is something wrong with the clutch, there shouldn't be but that's my luck

I'll leave it until i've got the clutch all plumbed in, will hopefully find the issue then

Jack the front up and support it properly - and I mean properly, chock on the rear and someone sitting inside etc...

Start it up and even in neutral the wheels will turn but ever so slowly as theres still drive there even if its just one wheel, as you got no clutch master switch it off and put it in gear and then start it up, if the hub aint spinning faster best you find out now

Many thanks Andy, I would recommend doing it, just ensure you've got a steady income because it does get expensive.

Eeeeeer exterior wise i'm not sure, it may well get rattle canned for just now, maybe get a cheap compressor and do a little spray myself, but because im constantly changing things like the route the coolant pipes take then there's no point giving a full respray so once i'm happy with everything and its sweet as a nut ill unbolt everything straight back to a shell then full proper respray. Colour? Havn't a clue. something that stands out. Ive got a long time to think of one :)

Evening all, got an update

Still no M/C i'm afraid, next weekend hopefully. But in the meantime i took a trip to demon tweeks for some odd bits. It may be quite expensive there but it has everything i want in one place plus i've never been to wales >_<

Got some induction stuff like cone, ducting, 90 bend, breather also a reservoir for the clutch and fluids. Just spent this weekend mucking about putting them on and also fired the car up seeing as it hasn't been run this year. Anyway, photos

Breather on

Posted Image

90 degree silicone bend, still got room to move it if needs be for the m/c

Posted Image

Reservoir in place

Posted Image

Also used Kams trick on the alternator plug so it cleared the heat shield

Posted Image

Getting there

Posted Image

This is another shot of the driveshafts, are you sure they are right Kam?

Posted Image

Got a couple of videos, firstly the issue im having with the wheels not turning

Posted Image

But i am pleased to report they don't turn when the engine runs. Got a little walk around of the car here, and yes i did get attacked by the car cover, fecking thing

Posted Image

Thats all for now, not a very exciting update but it feels like i'm getting somewhere. I did try and put the front end on to give me an idea of where to put the radiator but that was a fail with just myself trying to put it on with no mole grips :withstupid:
