Just spoke to them, got ahold of Rob and yes he did remember you very well Kam :P

Had a great chat with him and i've been turned away from the Allspeed pedal box, top salesman work by Rob.....he told me to forget a pedal box and go for mini stuff instead. I already spoke to another Rob who works at Minisport a couple of weeks ago, top bloke (must be a Rob thing), who pointed me in the direction of some parts that are the best quality but a lot cheaper than the allspeed stuff. Gonna try get them sorted next weekend

Yeah people tend to remember me very well, not sure why though :whistling: :D

Why do you need a new set of mini pedals? whats wrong with your old set?

Haha yes he did give me a reason for remembering you ;-)

The idea of buying the pedal box was so i could get the master cylinders inside the car and save space in the engine bay. But now im using a older mini master cylinder and my old pedals. Well when i find the :xxx:'s that is

Sorry for the confusion Kam

Thanks for the link Shukran. They look like a decent set. Have you used them before?

Little update, just gathering parts together but not really got a chance to put them together because its, as the scottish say, balltic out there!!

Parts are mainly brake related and i've got my setup planned so it goes a little something like this.

Different pedal box from a 1985 onwards car

Posted Image

Posted Image

This is gonna be connected to a GMC227 M/C (one on the left)

Posted Image

The front brake lines will go into a T-piece and then into the calipers however the back brake line will run inside the car and through the Wilwood Brake Bias Valve

Posted Image

All pipes are gonna be S/S braided except the ones ive already put on the back subframe

Still need to buy my clutch M/C but that'll wait till next payday then gonna save as much as possible over xmas thanks to extra work etc and buy the driveshafts, cvs and other bits after the new year.

Easy as that....... :whistling:

Not got much of an update i'm afraid. I've been trying to figure out what front end i wanted to go for, round nose or clubman so Gary over on the 16v forum made the decision for me by selling an extended round nose for quite cheap,

Collected it last week. Heres some pics

Posted Image

Posted Image

Saved myself a fortune, almost new just a couple of things that need cleaning up on it

Also got speedflow making me some measured up braided hoses for the brakes and clutch, should get them after the new year

That is all, not a lot happening at the moment, like i say im just gathering parts at the moment

Merry Christmas everyone and I hope you all have a great new year :)

Its been far to long since i've done an update, so got a little one here

Got home last week and was welcomed by a delivery from Allspeed and Powerflow. It was like Christmas day aaaaaall over again

So yesterday I set about tinkering, didnt plan on doing vast amounts because I aint got a clutch M/C yet because everywhere in the country is out of stock :( , i like to have everything I need to finish the job. But I got the alternator mounted up.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Oh and question for anyone who uses this mounting...what belt did you use? All the ones i took off the honda engine are too big and my peugeot spare one is too small....typical

Bit close??

Posted Image

Also got my pedal box bolted up, the clutch pedal is very close to the heater but got a plan for it. Managed to modify the accelerator cable and attach it to the pedal feels nice and can be adjusted. Also modified the heater valve cable to tidy up the 'bay

Posted Image

Got my master cylinder bolted up, just as i bolted it up i remember about a gasket i need for under the master cylinders??

Posted Image

Cheeky shot of the braided hoses there :shifty: They are soooo nice, would recommend Powerflow anyday. I aint got a servo on this car, i aint driven a car without a servo so this could be interesting, my Peugeots brakes are very solid so its good training :D
The route of pipes are very simple, fronts are M/C to T-piece then to brakes and the back line goes through the Wilwood bias valve

Posted Image

All needs tidying up and i'm going to buy one of those speaker boards for under the back bench so will bolt the bias valve to that and tidy it up later

Finally I got the driveshafts all put together, love working with nice clean parts.

Posted Image

Need to get clamps for the inner cv's but its all together. By far the messy-ist job i've done on the car up to now

All I'm needing now is clutch master cylinder and seats along with lots of other small bits and bobs and this should be driveable (touch wood). The AP racing M/C should be available at the end of January so thats my goal. Getting exciting now :D new year resolution is to get this car finished...... ;-)

Hope everyone had a good festive period

Nice work Kieran, good to see bits n bobs bolting together

Standard donor alternator belt is no good, you need to grab a 4 ply about 750mm long or so, I actually found a 6 ply near that figure at my local factors as thats all they had and put a stanley to it and made it 4 ply - no issues

I can't remember the actual length but it was tight, to change the belt on mine you had to take the alternator off completely as 'lifting' it made no difference

I never used the donor manifold on mine but my plug was also close, I nipped a bit out as it was difficult to 'clip' the plug to get it off

Posted Image

Posted Image

This enabled me to get the plug off to remove the alternator even if the manifold is boiling hot, not that you would be doing that everyday but I could change a belt in under 20mins taking the alternator off as I tested it at home after a drive, so if I ever got caught out roadside...but I never did

Be prepared, and I wasn't even in the scouts :shifty:

You could get some manifold wrap on there just in that area but I'm not sure how much clearance you have got now or will have as manifold wrap aint thin stuff...

Do you need the green plug? What I mean is can you fasten the wires to it with a made up solution and then cover that in a heat proof sticker?

Many thanks for the reply Kam,

I'll try source a belt from somewhere, that's all i needed was some sort of size, no doubt my local car parts place will have one

As for the plug/manifold problem I'm not going to use that manifold for long, it's only there for sorting out the niggles then i'm going to get a really nice custom manifold/exhaust depending on funds. After all when i take the front off its going to be the main thing on display

Got a email from Rob at minisport.......M/C is going to be 4 weeks!!! so this is probably going to go quiet for a bit as there really isn't much else to do. Might try test fit the front soon

You could get some hi-temp exhaust paint on there in the meantime, something like black will smarten it up for the time being

I get my Kambelts :shifty: from here - Kam

Nice, i like what you did there...

I think I have some hi-temp paint kicked about somewhere, used it on my pug's rocket cover. I had a thought last night that i should've tried and that is to see if the heat shield still fits
