If your loom is working then stick with it and just tidy it up a bit, if its not broke etc etc Unless theres something about it you don't like?

Ye im happy with it, had a few issues with it when i was showing a mate....basically it didnt start but i think its battery related. Gonna have everything bolted on the back bench with a kind of perspex display/easy access of the fuse panel. But ye i'm happy with it and just want to neaten it up
I am most definetly in the zone, cant stop thinking about whats next, what i need to buy, how things go together and how they work. but with a daily runner, a house, the mini and only being on apprentice wages i have to step back sometimes and watch my funds
My target is to have it moving again by the end of January, maybe sooner if i get a pay rise from work

Done a little over the weekend, needed to tidy up the wiring so bought a load of connectors and set about the very boring task of lengthening the wires so my fuse panel and ecu could sit on the back bench because i aint putting back seats into the car, just a roll cage (maybe)
Few pics of the new layout
Through Jamies's patented mod
Need to heatshrink the loom in the engine bay and tuck everything away but quite frankly i am sooooooooo bored of wiring now. Ill sort it all out along with all the other wiring bits i need to do when i've got my hands dirty with the ratchet again
Next was to get the gear linkage painting up so grabbed a quick pic so you can see just how modified it is
Plugged everything in, was a bit worried it wouldnt start because it wasnt starting early in the week but it was because of some crap connections. Turned the key....fuel pump primed itself then next turn it kicked in first time. Such a great moment
Thats all for now. gonna buy a pedal box next and get my brakes bled and clutch sorted then in the new year buy the driveshafts etc

I think im going to get the allspeed one, ive already sorted my throttle cable so will just use the standard mini throttle pedal. Thats why i wanted to know if anyone has used the allspeed box.
I was looking at those OBP ones but then i heard peoples thoughts on them and got put off

Not sure how your doing it but wrap some tape round the section thats passing through the cut bodywork, I know your ecu and fuse panel won't be moving about but the last thing you want is to troubleshoot a nick in the wire which happened during build up

I did think when i cut the hole it would nick wires, i spent aaaages filing it so it was smooth but now you've pointed it out im going to put some rubber seal round the edges and tape the wires together.
I'm just going to take the plunge and get the allspeed box, how hard can it be.....
A question for yourself Kam...again. What way round do you have the coolant pipes hooked up to the standard heater? Is it:
Bottom coolant hose goes through heater valve and into rear pipe of heater then front pipe on heater goes to top coolant pipe on engine?

great work kieran !! its good that you got it running its getting excitin now
Nathan
Cheers Scotty
I know, it is getting that way and all i want to do now is drive it, just like what John said.
Whats even more worrying is i told my parents that i had got the thing started and it seems they are spending just as much time on here as i am......

Just wrap some tape around the loom and along the edges cut, that'll be fine, if its where people (passengers/you when excited in the seat) could maybe plant there feet then just make sure its covered up properly to prevent crushing
For the pedal box its like anything during an engine swap, get as much research done as possible before you go committing to buying one, I don't know anything on the allspeed one to comment as I've still got the mini one but the reason for the research is to prevent yourself a headache like the guys had when they got there OBP ones, its alot of money for a potential headache, its alot cheaper to have some excessive alcohol instead if you really want a headache...
* Remember kids - always always drink irresponsibly
For the heater pipes I don't know if the standard mini heater has dedicated inlet/outlet ports but yeah I've got it hooked up the same as yours expect my heater valve is on the other pipe, so mine goes:
(looking from the front of the car) cylinder head to heater tap then to the rear heater port, then back out the front heater port (bonnet end) to the bottom of the engine
Whether the heater valve is plumbed in either hose I'm sure that won't make a difference as the natural coolant flow of the engine will be out the head into the rad then into the thermostat which sits in the bottom hose then back into the block, so whether you catch it before or after it hits the rad won't matter as your heater valve is there when you need it regardless of whether your fan has kicked in and cooled the coolant as your the one shutting it off
* Don't take literally - beer goggles can be hazardous to your wallet

I've been doing my research for the pedal box, aint found very much on it except just the people who got the OBP one saying they wish they had gone for the allspeed one
I'm going to contact allspeed tomorrow about it and see what they have to say about it. Obviously they will say its good but i have some specific questions
I need to get myself a proper radiator and then get the pipes set 100% but theres plenty of coolant in there at the moment for starting and idling.
Thanks again Kam

Robs cool and won't mess you around, he'll tell you straight, if something aint to your spec he'll forewarn you so you know where you stand, just let him know what your using and how
I've only ever spoken with him and would only speak with him, if you mention vtec mini at the rollers with the wheel bearing issue he'll know its me
