Ive looked around but still unsure, and the only seal i can find is for the boot lid itself, but ive seen pictures of mini boots with a seal around the actual boot panel where the boot lid fits, therefore is it the same seal just placed differently or can you get two different seals and would it make it more water tight if you was to put both seals on?

You get an early seal and late seal. The early seal fits on the actual boot lid and the late seal around the boot panel as you have mentioned. Usually cars after 88 user the late seal. Unless your boot at some point has been changed (like mine was :mmkay:) As far as I know it's not interchangeable which one you use. I have the early seal and I have never had a problem with water getting in. =]

my mini originally had a seal on the lid when i got it but i was unsure as to whether it should have been on the car it's self originally so when i got a new boot lid, i brought a seal that goes on the car, i have asked this question before - http://www.theminifo...hl__+boot +seal

Thank you for the help!

the owner of the mini i brought had reversed in to something and its slightly misshaped the boot panel so the top corners of the boot lid are slight out and therefore gaps which im trying to correct as i dont want the boot to leek for obvious reasons :)

The seals are interchangeable, but the late boot lids don't have the holes for the clips that hold the earlier one on. The late seal in my opinion is better.

there is a seal that glues on around the boot lid for the early mk3 lids when the factory did away with the fixing holes thats the one i have used on my car and it works very well if done properly
