for those deciding about cams for their car
mg metro cam in a mg metro engine slightly modded
now in fourth gear at 2000 revs its fine, drives ok ( 3.44 diff )
put boot down and pulls straight away, once reaching 2750
you can feel it to realy start to pull all the way to 5500
it may well still pull after that havent tried it
3rd was the same 2750 rpm.
hope this helps with cam choice, particulary for daily car
mines not a daily but very happy with this

Both great cams for turbo use too.

The 266 and the MG cam are not quite the same cam. The 266 has a larger overlap and slightly longer durations. The equavalent MG cam made by Kent is the KC500.

i know......some people on here keep saying that the MG cam and the 266 are both the same, if that was the case then why do kent make the KC500?.....its obvious that they are not the same at all........vaguely similar yes.......the same......no.

iv heard there good for turbos but which is best for a 998 with your typical cooper 295 head and stage 1 kit, out of the kent 266 and the metro k500.
sorry about the hijack
they are all good cams for a 998 with a 295 head, its really a case of which one of them is more available, a lot of the MG metro cams will be worn out now unless it is really low mileage, i would go for a kent 266 as i have one in my 1098 and its ace!

in my 1275 i wanted alittle more so i went with the 276 and its a good cam it really works well for what i want, at current its in my daily that does a few auto tests, sprints, hill climbs and rallies, over the last 13months the engine have done 12000miles and probably 10 events for diffrent types. it get rev hard regular and still brings a smile to my face. 286 no thanks

i ran a mg metro cam in my 998 with a highly modded 295 head and all the other usually bells and whistles and it drove very nicely, power below 2500rpm was similar to a standard 850 but after this it would pull right until the valves started bouncing

as i said the mg metro seemed to pick up more about 2750
putting foot down at 2000 in top
where does the 276 kick in doing the same test at 2000 revs in top

In my 998 with standard everything 45mph reads as about 2500 rpm in 4th I think
Depends on the final drive :)

Oh I know, but I seeing as it isn't an "e" I think it should be 3.44? and I went out in it earlier and yes 45mph is 2500
