Had a bit of a scare at the weekend when i went to top up oil level. Oil filler cap had mayo like substance on it, also noticed inside of rocker cover had some on. Immediately i thought head gasket, but i can't see that it is as i changed it only 6000 miles ago. Also no water loss, overheating, loss of power etc. I have recently fitted an alloy rocker cover and cap about a week ago. I might be wrong but i seem to remember hearing that the alloy rocker cover can cause the goo to form (don't no how though).
Has anyone else had this happen????
Any help/advice please????
Thanks

Mayo under my oil cap

'because the alloy box looses heat faster than the steel one it will be colder than the air inside it after it's been sitting a short while on your drive and the moisture in the air will start to condense on it's inner surfaces and mix with the oil. This will also happen more if you go for lots of short trips not letting the engine fully soak with heat. Go for a drive and see if the emulsion boils off, if you've got a blown head gasket then a 1/2 hour drive will make it a lot worse rather than better.
