The Mintex 1144, as said, is a good pad, but not good enough for really serious driving where the discs get literally red-hot. I also use AP600 race brake fluid to avoid fluid boiling.
For a road Mini you really don't need these though, they really are for proper competition, and just EBC 'Green' or another quality pad is usually OK.

The very best pads for the 7.5" discs are the Carbon-Metallic ones as sold by Mini Spares. They are, quite simply, the absolute best ever, and I reckon I've tried many over the years.

Those are pricey, but worth every penny:

EBC green stuff are quite good for 8,4" discs, but for the 7,5" you'll get brake fade under hard conditions..

Yes, they are the ones I use and are the best I've ever used in any Mini. For really aggressive use it is sensible to run AP600 racing brake fluid as with those pads ordinary brake fluid will boil before the pads fade. In fact I've never managed to fade mine even when the discs have been literally red hot.

Though I'm not expert on steel grades, all i can say is always use an higher grade material for the discs.

bit of a thread revival i know but the carbon metallic pads , are they good for road use i.e good cold and round town performance or are they a track type pad? Currently im deciding between the mintex m1144sand the carbon metallic. My mini is purely for road use but i don't mind paying a bit extra if they really are good.

I am replying here because i dont want to open a new thread.
classic mini 998 now 1275 mg metro in the mini, with 286 cam , rockers 1.5 scg and die cast swiftune pistons
I have the MSSK013M kit with the pads that came with it. and i am not happy with the standard pads. am also having yohohamas advan 032r
i double press the pedal (no servo and still not happy with the brake feel and i bleeded the system 3 times until now)
i am using the car 90% on the road and only in sundays on mountain drive , not track days nothing.
what pads should i go?

Probably Mintex 1144 would work well for you. If you want totally fade-free performance under virtually any conditions go for the carbon-Metallic pads as supplied by Mini Spares. They are good under all conditions from cold to, literally, red hot, but they are more expensive and you only really need them for out-and-our competition.
There are other pad materials available such as Mintex 1166 and 1177, but the C-M would be best if you need more than an 1144.
I hope this helps.
