Could have exactly the same problem tho if I went out and found the id off another engine. I'm not even sure the dvla check to be honest. But then a past ex's mini had a 1275 Mg metro lump under the bonnet, but had the 12h something engine number down on the v5 as still being a 998.what of that engine is now in another car and registered to another v5?
it could open up a huge can of worms

Just got my logbook back after change of name and engine change. They changed the name and engine number but did not change the engine size so i have a 998 engine starting 12H
