There is a fairly well known image from the Italian GP in around 1976 that I'm looking for but can't find. The photo, or photos are of Tifosi climbing all over the Agip sign and kicking it to pieces so they can get a better view of the race. I got reminded of it at work the other day and can't find it anywhere. Anyone have it?

Are you sure it was an Agip sign or this one from Monza 1970?

Wow, that's close enough. Thanks. I'm sure it was Agip on at least one occasion, I would imagine they climbed a few signs. It came up at work and I was sure I'd seen it. Thanks again.

I think the shot you are thinking about was taken by Rainer W Schlegelmilch in 1974, were the Agip sign was invaded. At the same race the fans also sat amoungst a BL sign which was above an almost destroyed Martini one.
You should find them on this link, page 1 for Agip, page 3 for BL.

I have the BL pic in a book Ferrari Formula 1, by Rainer W Schlegelmilch.

It wasn't so much of a find, it was more of a memory jog. When dan mentioned the Agip sign I knew I had the picture somewhere in a book, I just had to find which one. The first one I found was the BL/Martini shot, and a quick web search found the Schlegelmilch site.
I first became aware of Schlegelmilchs' pictures in the 1980's, and in the 1990's he started getting books of his work published. He is responsible for some of the best images of F1 in the 80's and 90's. If you have a good search through the web site linked some of the images are just stunning.

I hope to have some time this weekend to go through his website, Good photos from the Canadian and US GPs that I attended through the 70s are pretty scarce at best.
Thanks for the link!

Well you've raised my curiosity now...does it have anything to do with popcorn, Opie, Rush, and James Hunt?
