why dont you recover the roof yourself? i am planning on doing it, i bought a second wabasto roof, and will use it as a template (though mine is the manual type). http://www.theminifo...-removal-guide/ this is the strip down of my spare one (gives you an idea at least on how the sunroof is constructed)

could try these guys? http://www.tudorwebastosunroofs.com/

I spent over three years looking for a trimmer to replace the shrunken factory fitted (electric) vinyl roof on my wife's 1999 Mini Cooper Sportpack, during which time I had to strip the interior twice because it got damp and mouldy as it leaked so badly.

I've recently had it replaced by NDS Saab in West London - yes that's correct, a Saab specialist! They did a super job, it looks exactly like an original and they took the whole thing out, replaced the vinyl, serviced the mechanism and put it back. Great fit and completely watertight. You can find them at www.nds-saab.co.uk and they've now got some pics of my car on the website. Speak to Nelson or Stella, they're lovely people, really helpful and Nelson knows his old Minis!

I don't know if anyone is still looking at this thread.

I have a British Open Classic with the same issue, shrunken vinyl top.

I also have some warn parts if anyone knows where to find replacements.

Ha ha, holy thread revival indeed.

As an update, I fitted a new fabric roof supplied from a well know mini specialist and it was simply rubbish. As a consequence 2 years later I am looking to replace the roof again

:-(

I'm looking to do the roof on mine... Any pointers of where not to buy etc? ... Feel free to pm anyone...

go on ebay and search for "classic mini sunroof", there are a few options, but cannot comment on the quality

I was just about to buy a cover and headlining but as a last resort I asked a local body shop if they knew anyone in my area (deepest Cornwall) who might be able to do it... Long story short, I've met an excellent classic/vintage trimmer about 7 miles from me who looked at it and said he could make me a mohair one and fit it for around the £400 mark all in... Which sounds like a good deal to me. Maybe when done I should post it to the thread in the hopes of helping others?

Hi Honda-mini, looking at the pic of your roof , if the ripple (fullness) on your roof does,nt come out once its been exposed to the heat of the sun a few times, which it probably will, you can steam it. Its what we do in the furniture trade and it works a treat. How much did your roof cost?.

Overall the job including materials but not headlining ended up at £400, but I think if you removed your own roof and took it in it would be cheaper by a fair bit as that took nearly as long to sort out as trimming it up lol
