I think this 'bulk head' is a little beyond repair

Posted Image

As was the side wall of the sleeping area, so that came off too

Old bulkhead removed...

Posted Image

This is the new bulkhead board in place, it needs an angle trimming into it, but should line up after that.

Thats it for today, not as productive as I had hoped but it was a nightmare removing old bits - hopefully will get down there tomorrow.

Comments/Ideas welcome.

This one is a 2.3 Petrol 4 Speed :S

Apparently it is a Vauxhall Slant Type engine - although I have no idea if thats true or not, they are loud, smelly and slow - but if your on holiday in a motorhome you are supposed to hold up traffic! :D

about to buy a load of this...

Posted Image

Its the easiest thing I can think of to create the new walls, its lightweight, easy to bond to the frame, but it is 10mm thick which is problematic.

On the plus side I can get 25m x 300mm for about £50, so shouldn't cost anymore than £300 to do the whole van.

Anyone else got any ideas on things that can be used - I'm struggling to think outside of the box on this one.

Yeah, its gonna be a big problem, and will certainly weigh more than original - but I have to have my creature comforts :P

The worktops I 'might' compromise on and go for lightweight ones.

Projector weighs less than a TV so thats cool.

When I build the cabinets they will be done using the least possible MDF (probably just the fronts will be routed MDF.

And a dump switch for the water tank in case I get pulled into a weighing station.... j/k

I am hoping that the cladding will compensate for a lot of the weight, the material is very light but not sure on comparison with the twin aluminium skins which I will be removing.

Oh and I am ditching the gas bottle & fridge probably so that should save around 50-60kgs

Saving the engine work for the big bedford. This one will be bog standard under the bonnet I think - partially as there will be no pennies left.

Have you tried a local window store for the cladding? I cant remember how much I paid last time I bought some, but i'm sure it wasn't as expensive as that.
