Hi there,
I wonder if anyone could advice me who has used gunk cleaner, the red can stuff you can use to clean your engine. Im wanting to clean the engine ready for painting and can only do this on my drive which is tarmac. I've knowwhere else to clean it so if i can't use the gunk which i already have can you reccomend anything else to clean my engine out???

Many thanks in advance
Rob the owner of a slighty dirty little engine :)

i would say your been fine with it, if your worried wet the floor first this will reduce the strenth of the gunk, but i highly doubt it is strong enough to strip tarmac anyway.

or you could get some of your tax payers money back and test it on a public road first ;D :D

It does say on gunk not to use it on tarmac, but I think that might just be the drive cleaner and not the engine degreaser.

Check what the tin says and try and test it on a small patch somewhere hidden on your drive.

If not, try muc off. Its pretty powerful stuff but doesn't really damage anything. But again, test a small patch first.

Wet the floor and slip a sheet of polythene under the engine give it a good cleaning then rinse.
Spray the floor with lots of water once your finished just in case and you wont have any problems ive done mine a couple of times.

Lay some polythene down and get a load of cardboard boxes, collapse them flat.... the cardboard will probably soak up most of the Gunk. I used gunk to clean some parts of my engine and sprayed it straight on to the pavement outside my house.... nothing has happened to it yet.
