Yep im so lucky to be here now the pin didn't actually snap it pulled out of the socket which then caused the other pull joint to snap the hub so had to replace hub drive shaft bearing and ball joints been a long day and it pushed the a panel back into the door I've sort of straightened it for now :)
Can you post some close up pictures of the damaged parts..........it would be useful if anyone who suffers a balljoint failure took photos of the offending parts and posted them on TMF so we can try to work out what /how failure has occured in each case, also the source/make of balljoint if known.

everyones nightmare! Is there a guide to checking our ball joints?
i second this, also are there any signs of ball joints failing?

The only thing I can think has happened to allow the pin to pull through is that the car is too low at the front and the pin and cup have been wearing sideways-ey? (technical term

Check the other side ASAP!

Yep exactly what happened and the mini is running 2 inch off the front bump stops so its not really really low i realised Wednesday they where knocking so said to myself job for Saturday and bang Friday night they give up
2 inches off the bump should have been fine Danny.. looks like it has taken a bit of abuse in the past though

If only it had lasted out another day...
