Dont know if this has been asked before but how can you tell the difference between genuine ones and copys...Ive just bought a mini with what look like real ones but dont know how to tell for sure...Is it something simple like "Minilight" stamped on the back?

You can lift the original ones with two fingers, the copies are usually heavier..apart from that, i dont remeber.
Check also if they're the correct offset for disc brakes.

The genuine mini lite wheels have the wheel nut holes alined to the spokes or whatever they are called. Whereas the copies like superlite are not alined with the spokes, they are to the side a bit.

Sorry this is the only pic I have right now...Will get a close up tomorrow..

They have a strange mark on the rim that looks like an "M" with an "L" stuck on...sort of like a tail on the end of the "M"..if that makes sense..

The genuine mini lite wheels have the wheel nut holes alined to the spokes or whatever they are called. Whereas the copies like superlite are not alined with the spokes, they are to the side a bit.

The early Rover "minilite style" wheels (i.e. copies) had the stud holes in line with the spokes (on the so called RSP alloys), but this was then changed to them being between the spokes around 1992, apparently to make the castings stronger. So in which case you therefore can have both types of stud hole arrangement on the same brand of non genuine minilite wheels! Plus certain styles of genuine minilte do have the stud holes between the spokes and others have them in line, I think it probably depends on the particular style of genuine minilite wheel in question.

Besides, I always thought that genuine Minilites had the words "MINILITE ENGLAND" cast into the outer side of the rim (as below), but I don't know if that was the case on all genuine minilite wheels.

Excellent...thanks for clearing that up for me...are Minator wheels any good? Not sure if they are worth listing on the bay..I know some minilight copies are not great.

They look like later-type Rover wheels to me. Are they 4.5in wide?

Heres mine for comparison. Excuse the muck!

Ah ha! So thats what the funny symbol means..And yes they are 4.5 X12, so they are rover minilight wheels then. I think I will bung them on E=bay and see what they fetch...

But first I need to spend a few hous with the wonder wheels, you think yours are dirty?? Then mine are minging!!

Those are later rover cooper minilites, 4.5x12 in size.
The earlier rover cooper minilites (factory fitment only on the RSP cooper and the racing green/checkmate/flame red LE series) have the wheel nuts in line with the spokes.
