Hello, last week my key snapped in my fuel cap at the petrol station i managed to get it off when i got home, but it snapped in process, Looking into getting a replacement i see there is two different types, A vented and a non vented, Any ideas what type i need to get? Its a 1997 mpi

All injections are NON-Vented. The know-how is when you unlock the cap when the tank is empty - you get that hiss of air rushing into the tank.

I had to replace mine, the one listed for the mpi is the non vented one but was told they are not availabe & replaced by the vented type.
Had it fitted a few weeks now & no problems.

I ran my MPi for a couple of years with a vented cap on before I found out it was the wrong one. It never seemed to mind. I bought a replacement stainless non-vented cap from Minispares: http://www.minispare...id=33983&title=

I went to mini its Saturday and bought a cap, they only had the vented type, bought that, tried to fit it but the key wont turn when placed on the fuel pipe, seems my mini has a larger flange on the pipe were it locks on. I the ordered the one from the above link and they sent me out a vented type! Im pretty pissed as i ordered the non vented. Will it be safe to drive the mini with out the petrol cap?
