I have recently discovered Homeland, a TV series about a US Marine presumed dead, held in captivity for 8 years. He has been freed and comes back to America, but there is a chance he could be plotting against the US. So far, I have only seen the first episode, so if anyone has seen it, please don't ruin it for me. What do people think of it? It has promise and I will be watching the rest of it.

A while ago, I discovered Strike Back, and the second season, Strike Back Project Dawn. Absolutely amazing. The theme tune to the second season was also brilliant - and now I love The Heavy (the band that sung it). The good news is that a third season has begun filming. I hope they bring the two main guys back in it.

So does anyone else watch either of these programs? Or has anyone else recently discovered any new TV that they like now? I also welcome recommendations for new series. I much prefer watching to catch up as well - then I can just keep going all the way through without having to wait a week for the next episode.

I just had a marathon Battlestar Galactica weekend (the reworked series rather than the original). For me, it is the best thing I have EVER seen on TV and if you've not seen it, Virgin have just made the first series available on their TV on Demand service (although I'd recommend watching the pilot first).

I can't recommend it enough and if you don't have Virgin, take a punt on Amazon...

I watched the first season of Homeland on Showtime here in the US. It is very good, filled with many twists and turns. I can't wait for the second season.
I am currently watching Battlestar Galactica on Netflix. I had watched the original version when it was free on Hulu.
I love Dexter too. One day, I was going to refill my printer's ink jet cartridges and I had a syringe and I was wearing surgical gloves. My wife asked me what was I doing. I told her "I am practising what I learned from Dexter". She was not amused.

I've just finished watching Homeland!

Wow. That is really good. Like rocket says, many twists and turns. One of the best shows in a while. I highly recommend it.

I must have watched a different Homeland because I thought alot of it was pointless. If memory serves me right there is around 12 episodes, it could have been done in 6, it was watchable for me only because I downloaded the full series and watched them all. If I had to wait week by week on sky I think I would have been bored very easily. Having worked in Baghdad and the rest of Iraq for 4 years I really thought it may have been something special but it wasn't for me. Strike back was awesome, have you seen The Unit? The theme tune to that is very catchy!

I'm watching homeland atm, and I also watched Strike Back and the other one...

Homelands good; always thought Damien Lewis was a good actor, especially because of band of brothers... but I find the main woman actor quite annoying to watch for some reason :L

Strike Back and the other one I absoloutely hated though. Just found them full of cringe worthy moments, and loads of cheese. :P

Strike back first series was great I like Armitage but seeing his brains blown out in the first episode of the second series doesn't really make me want to watch the rest.... What else does everyone watch??

I loved Strike Back: Project Dawn, I ended up watching Strike Back after Project Dawn. I also thought the theme tune to SB: Project dawn was great.

I even managed to put up with some of the 'problems' with the dress/equipment etc in it too, something I find difficult. Having said that I did notice (can't remember if it was SB or SB PD) but in one of them that had an SA80 with no sight on it at all - although now I think it may have been Spooks, there's just so many of them!!

Currently watching Alcatraz and Grimm.

I take it your military or ex mil because I'm the same when you see goofs like this. I hate mag changes in films lol for some reason they seem to have a 1000 round mag before a change

Still serving.

I have to say I did notice that in Strike Back: Project Dawn during a firefight they did mag changes at around about the right time for their respective weapons.

I think this also stems from when I was a kid watching Rambo and my dad picked up a few things (not hard in films like that).

If a film isn't trying to be realistic then I don't mind the Hollywood mags.

Films and tv programmes are definatly getting better at being more authentic and more realistic in fire fights!
