never let anyone touch my cars.

i do motor vehicle mechanics at college at BTEC level, some people that are on courses below me actually have trouble doing brake services. and these people then go on to work on the public's cars!? shouldnt be allowed.

I know exactly what you mean, having spent 4 years at college, undoing many cokups, including them not being able to get the gearbox on on some rear wheel drive car, which me and a friend found they put the clutch plate in the wrong way round, and another funny one was a cylinder head being put on backwards by one of the "bolt on bandits".

I too wouldn't have tyres done at KF. I do however go for my MOT. They seem to take real care every time I go, and as they don't see many early cars, I have to remind them of the rules..... Passes every time with no problems.

Good work, they damaged my dads Mondeo wheels, by using a screwdriver to take the centre caps out instead of using the little indent already there.

He got some money off after kicking up a fuss. This was ages ago, now use a little tyre place that does them very well...

The weight on one of my wheels fell off because brake fluid leaked all over it from a leaking seal and they rebalanced it for free :)

Kwik Fit quoted me £530 to order and replace the exhaust on my Mini the other week!

Bought the parts for £150 and fitted it myself.

Yes, stay away from KF....
Bunch of idiots who can't seem to fit tyres without damaging the rims.
Took my old Rover 400 in for new tyres a few years back and they managed to damage ALL FOUR alloys.
Not good at exhausts either........!

a mate of mine took his 40 year old VW camper to them to get the tracking reset after some front suspension work

he was in stitches watching them trying to work out how the van steered with out a steering rack (has a steering box)

the youngster call his mate for a look and you could see them following the steering components around the bottom of the van

next the boss was called and there were now 6 hands following the steering components

after a further 15 minutes the youngster came over and said sorry we can't do the tracing on your van

my mate asked why and was told because it's left hand drive the steering works the other way around

I don't even like driving past a Kwik Fit.

NEVER use them, even if you have to drive much further for an independent tyre fitter.

They are awful, a true cowboy chain that somehow manage to stay in business.

The normal thing is. Sorry mate we scratched your wheel so we will only charge u for the tyre not for fitting!

I have only been to them once and that was because I got a puncture outside there garage of all places.
The only other reason I go there is when I'm shopping round. It goes main dealer then kwick fit then someone who does it at 1/4 the price lol!!
