The last time I used KF was when I had my last mini in 1984. They put a new exhaust on and it blew at the manifold joint so I took it back and they tightened the clamp. It blew even more so I took it back and they tightened the clamp etc etc. My dad however thought they were great as they made him a cup of tea each time the relieved him of his wallet contents. The power of advertising is indeed great when you have someone who has no mechanical clue.
Having said that, the supplying main dealer (Kennings) did the same thing as you suffered to the factory fit Exacton alloys (? 5J) on the first tyre change. There were lacquer shavings all over the machine and they said I must have kerbed them to cause the resulting damage. A lot of bad feeling from both parties and a few strong words in right ear got me two new Exactons. I bet they took more care next time : )

i would never ever take any car of mine whether it was a mini or anything else to kwik fit.............or halfords fast fit centres for that matter........they are just as bad.
i used a local independant family run company to fit the tyres on my exactons, they did the job properly and they were actually bothered about taking care not to damage the wheels.....unlike some snotty nosed teenager in halfords who only knows or cares about corsa's and clio's!!...............

He asked me what experience I had. When I told him I'd worked in two garages, he told me I didn't have enough experience and pretty much put the phone down on me.

I rang up for a job at Kwik Fit, advertised as 'no experience necessary, full training provided'. I thought this was odd, but I rang up..

He was afraid you were over-qualified and more capable than him. You would have had his job after 3 or 4 weeks!

The only time I've had dealings with them was when the company car I was in, got a puncture.
All this guy had to do, was jack the car up and swap the flat tyre for the spare, then we'd pick the repaired tyre up the next day. Doing a wheel change, he managed to loose the wheel nuts AND blamed us! it wouldn't have been so bad, but we were in a rush too

.. oh the irony of 'kwik' fit.

they did the job and the gave the task of starting the car up to some "young lad", he did no more than start the engine up and rev it straight away to around 6000rpm, i went absolutely mad...i was livid, the manager was lucky that i didnt knock him out.
everyone knows that you let the oil pressure build up first......they didnt even put oil into the filter before fitting it (which i always do)
