My A539s have worn out totally (and evenly) in...8 months...I do about half an hours driving a week in that car. I don't know if I got a duff set but I don't drive like a nutter and they are totally ruined. Can't believe it. £170 for two more apparently...think I'll be going somewhere else!

It appears that asahartz's last comment may have got lost on some people.
Please remember opinions are like arseholes, every body has one. That does not mean you what to see it on the internet!

The mileage different drivers get from their tyres is always interesting.
I have a great friend, Bill Rogers, with whom I rallied in the 60's and again in the 90's in various Minis. He was one of the fastest Mini drivers I ever had the pleasure of navigating, but he seemed to make tyres last far longer than anyone else. His tyres certainly lasted longer than mine, but he was and is still a faster driver than me.
He never seems to drive any differently or indeed much slower or faster on different tyres. It's just that he was/is such a smooth driver. He now lives in California and has a 1963 1071 Cooper 'S' which I built a long time ago.
The key to tyre life is driving style and correct tyre pressures. I run at 32 to 34 psi on tarmac roads.
As for tyre choice, just drive to suit the capabilities of whatever tyres you buy. I had to laugh when someone said he had fitted a certain tyre and it was c**p as he had spun on 3 separate occassions in the wet on them. He didn't need different tyres, he needed some advanced driving tuition.
