If there are loads of cars like it, maybe you should round them all up and ship them ALL back. If it is too difficult and expensive to keep passing the tests they should find their way home.

I'm sure there would be plenty of people interested in Jap imports.

Coincidence that so many are now on fleabay?......I think not!

The guy we considered getting the huge Elgrande from said he could get us most mini models -rustfree- imported over for a good price

Tempting!

Haha, the door handles. They're mine! My wife hates the black ones I have so I will replace them. Although she couldn't understand why I'd always wanted another mini... until we got one and she drove it! Now she wants a red one. Then we see the red one, plate number 27, that looks like it has recently been repainted. But a horrible grey interior so if we can get that one back on the road and new interior (plus those door handles) will have to go in.

Can anyone advise what to look for when deciding if a shell isn't worth repairing? I will look into getting them into storage or at least undercover somewhere if it is worth keeping them whole. Otherwise I'll just start stripping them for parts or practicing (which will probably go badly wrong!)

And after I viewed them the first time I could believe I was told to do what I want with them. So I went back and said if I draw up a list of what I might take we can work out a deal. He laughed and told me there is no need for money. Bargain!

Shame the Japanese are scrapping so many good rust free classic Mini's now. :(

Take your pick of Japanese Mini's to import........
"Welcome! You can buy a car from Japanese used car exporter in Tradecarview"

or many are of course already back here in UK with air con, etc:

Well... heres my Mini which sat in a garage here in the UK for 18 years... It's rotten as HELL but me and many others restore cars like this in the UK every year...

Those Minis look great, I bet they need very little, if any welding. I'd save them if you can... because I'm pretty sure theres people in the UK that would be very interested in importing them if there's no buyers in Japan

In the UK if somebody said about a mini in a field I reckon most of us would imagine something like this van on ebay >_<

A dream find. The red one in the last two pictures looks like it's in really nice condition.

I'd be interested to know the total cost for buying the car AND exporting to the UK.

if i had a couple thousand spare i would have them put in a shipping container, sent over here, and sell a couple and keep a coulple, far too good to scrap, i am currently welding one that makes these look like they just came out the factory!

I don't think any of them shells are anywhere near too far gone. The only slighty dodgy one is the one that has been crashed - if the subframe has been pushed into the floor then it's a lot of work to get straightened back out. But it looks like very light damage so that probably isn't the case.

They would be very sought after over here, even as projects.

Seriously find out how much it would be to ship them to the UK as I think you would be in for quite a reasonable profit!

Dan
