Changing Water Pump...

I'm considering replacing some hoses in my SPi and thought about fitting a new water pump whilst it's all out etc. I don't think it's much of a job but I am concerned about stuck/snapped bolts etc - does this occur much with these?? I'd hate to replace it as a preventative measure only to make my mini u/s! any past experience appreciated!!

Easy job, always worth replacing water pump and the bypass hose. Do not use those 'easy-fit' concertina bypass-hoses, they're proven to last about 200-500miles only and are only worth to have them as a spare for road-side repairs.
(Would be best if you blank the by-pass off and drill a couple of holes in the thermostat instead of the dready hose..

And, as has been said, never, ever fit the convoluted type. They fail quickly, and spectacularly.

As said above, why disturb it if it's working? They aren't prone to failure.

Look at the impeller, the cheap ones are crappy pressed steel, better ones are cast. Also look at the gap between impeller and casing. If its too big it affects efficiency, but can be sorted with careful use of a press.Regards water pump any particular one to buy my mate needs one for rover cooper carby type

As already stated the SPi has no by-pass hose. Hope this helps your decision.
