Highlights from a day of racing at Silverstone in the early 1960s.

This home movie, part of the Kim Dowe collection, features highlights from a day of racing at the Silverstone circuit in the early 1960s.
Action from various classes of racing are shown, beginning with a sports car class that features racing models by Ferrari, Morgan and Porsche, amongst others.
A series of open-wheel formula racing classes are also shown, followed by a hectic saloon class race in the wet, which features a Mini driver losing control, and a tight battle between another Mini and a Ford Zephyr.

Is that a white Ferrari 250GTO at 00:13

It's actually pale green.
That is footage of the 1962 Silverstone International meeting. The 250GTO, car no 30, is chassis number 3505GT. It was driven by Masten Gregory, he finished second.
At the begining of the clip, car no 31, is another dark blue 250GTO, chassis number 3589GT. This car was driven to victory by Mike Parks.

The Ford Zephyr is actually a Sunbeam Rapier. Of greater interest and more exclusive than the GTO is the Mercedes W163 1939 gp car being demonstrated, I am wondering why and how it got there? Obviously it was owned by Mercedes as I don't think any have entered private hands.

The photograher seems to have missed the finish of the International Trophy, won by Graham Hill in a BRM on the line by driving round the outside of Jim Clark's Lotus on the last corner. Both were given the same time.
