Well Yesterday I picked my little 1100 Engine up off of my cousin, whom I paid £50 for it (which I think is a bargain!)
It's formerly out of Old_Skool_Lews' Clubvan Estate... and has an MG Metro Cam and 40tho skimmed 12g202 cylinder head on it... and from talking to him, sounds like a really strong little engine!
The plans for it are:
Skimmed and ported 12g202 with some uprated valves (Maybe some rimflo's?)
MG Metro Cam
Duplex Double Timing Set
HIF38 Carb
Maniflow 1.75" Exhaust and LCB
My Minispeed rebuilt Gearbox with some fancy ratio's
Etc Etc...

Here are some Pics from earlier...

Hahaha Yeah  There are lots of 1098 builds at the moment... they are probably the most underrated A-Series, especially with the amount of potential they have for torque over the 1275 and 998.
Currently debating whether to get a decent set of pistons for it aswell, as i'm going to have to replace the rings for sure anyway! Should I bother with some flat tops? =]

Also I'm looking out for a Dizzy for it, If anyone could help me out with that? As I Only have A+ Ones...

Hahaha! bit of a lumpy Idle with a 296 in a 998 dont you think? 266 would be a better profiled cam... similar to the MG Metro one... =]

IMHO, a 296 cam isn't easily driven on the street. You would seriously probably be happier with the 266 or 276, maybe 286.
As for flattops, I would suggest it, however proper compression ratio is a must. Somewhere between 9.5 and 10.5 is usually ok (I assume you can get 95 petrol)

I just happened to finish an excel sheet just for that purpose
http://www.4shared.c..._ratio_v11.html
It's sitting on a public server so a bit slow to download, best to use firefox. Uses excel 2007.

flat top pistons are very expensive for 1098 engines (and no you cant use 998 ones!!)

theres a place in bromsgrove that do distributors (they advertise on ebay), i need one as well as ive only got A+ distributors as well

heres the link for the distributor

Slight change of plan with this project!
I wont really have much time on the engine build as I'm still prepping my Mini's bodyshell ready for paint, but I got given this the other day...

It's a T2 off of a Sierra Turbo Diesel, So will be using this alongside my Metro Turbo setup I have! (Just without using the original T3!)
The Ford Turbo's have a 3 Stud Manifold, so I am going to have to get a friend to make me an Stainless Steel** Conversion plate to run it on my Metro manifold =]
Here are a few pics of some of the bit's I have to go with it...

Carb got a bit of attention!

Will also get the block pocketed and use the 12g940 head off of my 1275 :D

So thats the general idea... Was going to run my Metro T3 Turbo, but I want a sleeper ish car and dont want to cut into the bulkhead :/
Plus, a smaller turbo should work better with this engine, as it should actuate quicker at lower rpm in comparison to a T3 which is laggy =]

yes, but the 1098 engines do make good torque, you dont need high rpm on a turbo engine anyway, the 1098's will rev safely to 6000rpm, thats plenty....;-)

Alloy won't work on the manifold, especially with a turbo
Steel is used for exhausts for a reason
