But I did find a few minutes to trial-fit the Micra seat. It's pretty well made to measure!
Slid right back on its runners, the seat tilt release just clears the B-pillar.
In the Micra the seat bolts to a cross-member at the front, only the angle of the bracket needs modifying a little. The inner one even lines up with the original bracket bolt hole! The outer rear fitting will bolt straight through the floor, while the inner one is designed to bolt to the tunnel - it needs a few mm shaving off the bottom and an L-bracket to bolt it to the floor.
If anyone is looking for an easy upgrade from a standard Mini seat, these from the K11 Micra are perfect! This set will be reupholstered to match the rest of the car in two-tone blue.

How are you planning on holding the side windows in, bonding?
That's right, looking for a modern flush bonded look. It will need a channel or tube to space it out from the existing inner rim. I have access to some of the adhesive they use to bond train windows in with ;)

Keep an eye on this thread, you'll see how I do it - there will be photos of everything!
Anyway, as you're doing a Clubman Estate, head on over the the Clubman Estate Register too, you'll find we're very friendly over there!

First, drilled out the spot-welds to the B-pillar.
You can see from this pic how much of the steel cancer our cars can be carrying in the seams, where we never see, nor can we do anything about it.
As I'm modifying the window surround I decided to remove the lower support rail and spot-weld it to the back of the quarter panel. First I needed to trial-fit the panel to mark the position.
First trial fit wasn't too optimistic:
I didn't expect the wheelarch to be accurate, and that can be modified with a hammer, but the front lower corner had me scratching my head for a while deciding how best to modify it. In the event a panel hammer and hand-held dolly made a quick job of adjusting the shape of the curve. 1.5mm trimmed off the edge of the angle made a perfect fit! So, suitably marked, the support rail was cut off, cleaned. painted with weld-thru, and spotwelded to the back of the quarter panel. Once again there was quite a bit of rust in this - we're now reaching the parts most restorations don't!
The new panel was also supplied over-length at the rear, so that needed to be cut and joggled so that it would fit neatly. Final trial fit and clamping:
Finally spot-weld along the sill and wheelarch, plug-weld the B-pillar, and seam everywhere else. The B-pillar fold did need quite a bit of attention from the hammer & dolly to make it fit.
So just need to fill in those half-moon cutouts along the top and grind back the seam. Knowing what I know now, if I were to do this job again I would ask M-machine to supply the panel without those cutouts. And I think I'd make even more radical alterations to the window frame, which still needs some mods to bond the one-piece glass into.

So today I dragged Stitch across the floor so that I could access the other side. Cut the old panel off, as before.
Drilled out the B-pillar spotwelds, cleaned everything up...
And welded on the new panel. This one needed slightly less fettling, but pretty much the same in the same places.
It's on now, just need to grind back again and weld up those cutouts.

Seats: Holly had a change of heart on the Micra seats and found these in the loft at Surf Blue:
They're Recaro Designer 2000, and while they're in good condition, they and the rest of the interior are off to Retro Retrims to be recovered in Holly's colours & designs.
Then today... wheels!
Yummy Compomotive CXRs, ordered to spec which is 5.5x13, ET18, painted grey. It's a kind of blue-grey which will look perfect with the chosen colour scheme.

A little more progress today. I have done the work while dad (Asahartz) has been prepping his camper for its MOT.
First cleaned the paint off the new floor panels and the toeboard area.
Then a coat of Rustoleum RAL1015. Mum got involved too, so there was lots of paint on the floor too!
We still have to do the arch closers!
And the rear subby painted to match:
Also my shiny new tattoo for Stitch!

I think it's just finishing up bodywork/doors, the engine conversion and exterior paint work and the dash design to do now! Just trying not to look at my cost sheet.... verging on the £3,500 mark so far... which is probably better than I expected it to be! Someone did make the comment I could easily buy one for the amount I'm spending on Stitch. But it just wouldn't be the same!!

Interior has been handed over to Chris at Retro Retrims, and Coverdale have sent out my carpets. A full Clubman Estate set including the loadbay in matching carpet for £89!!! Brilliant!
