Aye up, i went to fit a new grommet for the vacuum on the servo and noticed that there was liquid in the servo. Had a look and it is brake fluid (which i did presume it was!)
The brake fluid hasn't gone down at all since i bought the car in October, but the brakes have always felt a bit unassisted (like my old Herald i guess).
I guessed it was to do the vacuum, but now thinking i may have to shell out for a rebuild kit, just wondering if it could be something simple? I assume there shouldn't be any fluid floating around in the servo?!
Thoughts please ladies and gents!

Just get rid of the servo - small car like that doesn't NEED a servo..... I never ran servo on any of my Minis...... There should definitely NOT be any fluid in the servo casing.....

To be honest with you, i wouldn't have a problem doing that, especially as it's a nuisance there!
What parts would i need though if i were to remove it? MOT at the start of March and i don't really want to be paying out too much before that!!

I guess you would need to change to a non-servo master cylinder. My advice also -get rid of the ghastly taper nose pressure regulating valve, and fit an early style pressure limiting valve in the feed to the rear brakes. Fit this up front on the bulkhead - where it's easily accessed to allow 'fine tuning' of the pressure spring......

Sale stuff isn't normally allowed in the Tech Section but I will leave this one here since you are answering a specific request for info by the OP.

Right folks, i am feeling more and more like i will inevitably be changing the seals in the servo.
But...
I am still swaying towards removing the servo and fitting a Non servo MC (the later type)
My question is, what do i NEED to change in order to do the swap? I'm not messing around with other stuff that isn't neccessary, just want to know if it is a bolt off, bolt on change?

I guess you need a non-servo master cylinder - and seriously - dump that ghastly taper nose valve.........

If it was fitted with a servo surely it would need it to pass an mot?

Not for an MoT,but probably needed to keep your insurance valid. The problem isn't the serv, it's the master cylinder; repairing or replacing the one you have will be the cheapest & simplest option. If you don't want a servo just disconnect the vacuum pipe

Ethel, yes, the repair kit is one of the options, it's just the cost of a repair kit is rather expensive. So i thought, for the sake of the effort, just buy a brand new non servo MC and do that as it would also tidy up the engine bay.

Oh curse my indecision!
