Good Evening all.....

Apart from the obvious as in closing the air vents, is there a method out there or some sort of guccy product for preventing water comin in when in the wet or going threw a puddle?

Tellin me in the Italian Job when going threw the weir, no water got inside? lol

There is a piece of pipe that connects to the vents under the wings that takes air in from the grill not from the under the wing. If this becomes unclipped then you will find that your wheel will spray water into the air vent.

The piece of piping won't fully cure the problem but it came disconnected on mine and was worse.

apart from the fact that the mini's in the italian job didnt have any vents as they were mk1 mini's....they were far from standard and were specially built for the film, but i bet that there was plenty of water inside of them after driving through that weir!!

back to your question, i have wheel arch liners fitted to our mini special and that stops any water, have a look around the internet and see if anyone still does them.

As above, check to see if the ducting is actually connected under the wing and that the ducting is also in good condition and hasnt split. Also remove the trim from around the outside of the vents inside the car, to make sure that the panel itself is not corroded where the air vent duct passes through the flitch panel. This area is a notorious rust trap and a common site for rust holes that let in water around the vent.

The plastic wheel arch liners suggested above are a good anti corrosion investment and will also keep rain water away from the air vent ducts too. They are available from Dereks minis and Minispares.

Also the ducts for the ventilation system are all supposed to be lined with thick foam which cuts down on noise and traps any dirt or water. Check it's still present. There shouldn't ever be spray coming through the vents, it is not a standard feature.

I had this issue aswell the big pipe inside the arch had come off slightly. I actually put some tights over the end & reconnected it then sealed with tape that helps keep all the dust & leaves out too ;)
