just put 20/50 in it...... :closed:

Thank you, I will do this and hope for the best!

20/50w is what I suggested in my initial reply above and probably what most of us actually do. But this is probably the most commonly debated issue here on TMF and there are a number of different views on the matter, no doubt someone will be along shortly to offer the opposing view.

.... oh and you want 20/50w mineral oil

I know but 2 people suggested it, so I'm taking the word of both of you! :)! Thanks I will make sure it is mineral!

unless your mini is turbocharged/supercharged or runs massive BHP figures then 20/50 mineral oil is fine, it was fine for the rally mini's in the 60's and if all of this other "specialist oil" was never invented then there would never have been a bebate on it anyway, mini's engines were designed to be used with 20/50 mineral oil so just use that, half of these so called "experts" weren't even around in the 60's and 70's so take no notice.

Stick with what they were designed with imo.
I killed a fiesta rst engine by using castrol rs that a local tuner told me to use.
I had lower oil pressure in the mini using one of the specialist oils.
Reasonable quality 20/50 mineral and change it quite often due to possibility of gear box debris.

Just use a good mineral 20w/50 (milliers, valvoline, halfords/comma) or you could use 10w/40 aswell :D.

Now.......I like 20w/50.......and I like 10w/40........but which is better.....theres only one way to find out....... :P
