The maxi into mini must of been quite popular. There was at least one around here that i heard about as i started driving when i had my 850

Quite a few were featured in magazines of the time, will try to dig some out from my old mag collection.....................however the Maxi E-series engine/gearbox was taller than the A-series so required a large power 'bulge' in the Mini bonnet!

I can remember Minis with 1750 Maxi engines. From memory the E-series engine was not that much heavier than an A-series engine/box, but the height could be an issue. I think the Maxi CV joints were used with modified Maxi drive shafts. Did Cars & Car Conversions do an article about this? It would be good to see some more info, although how easy it would be to find a Maxi engine and box these days is another matter.
