Hi guys!

I want to remove the windscreen on my 2000 Rover MPi, and possible replace the scuttle panel.

Are there any guides on how to do this?

Thanks!

Ben

Buy a haynes manual, they're a great help for any job on a mini, eBay them and they can be cheap as chips

Haynes won't help with the scuttle tho. It's wings off for that.

I just want to inspect the scuttle, not necessarily replace it.

In that case (speaking from experience :P) buy a grinder and a wire cup and get it back to bare metal to see if there are any blemishes of rust or pinholes, that'll be your best bet

First time removing a screen? If yes cut the rubber.
The replacement might seal better so the rust may not come back as quick

I never cut the rubber, they come out easy enough anyway (unless glued!)

For £20 I wouldn't even bother fitting a used rubber.

Used rubbers never fit as well!

The scuttle will definitely need replacing as there is a lot of rust bubbling underneath it..

Thanks

The problem can be the top of the front bulkhead where the rust gets into it.
It's easy to remove the screen, just pull out the chrome locking strip, then push the screen from the inside.
The front wings will need to be removed to fit the scuttle and possibly the lower screen rail.
Make sure you measure the windscreen gap in about 3 places before cutting metal as the screen aperture must be exactly the same after repair.
