Hi there, just wondering if anybody on here is aware of the 'mini-grand24' race which is (supposedly) being run in with the Citroen 2cv 24hr race over August bank holiday weekend at Snetterton? Or maybe knows anybody intending to enter it? I can't find out a great deal of info regarding it on the Internet except for this website:

I've crewed for a number of 2cv teams both at snetterton and spa-francorchamps over the last few years and I'm pretty curious to see how many minis are entered, and how the teams are preparing for it...

They did give us a flyer about it at Donington but it doesn't give any more info than is on the website. Not sure how many teams are entering it yet, I think the south-west crew are intending to enter, Chris Slade might have some more information, see if you can get in touch with them: http://www.chrissladeracing.com. (Haven't got their contact details, sorry)

The next round for the Mighty Minis is on Monday at Castle Combe, you can see the timetable for it here.

Thanks for the reply, Ive heard two reports of either five cars or three cars entered so far. A couple of us on the team were talking about this the other day and weren't sure whether they'd be using current mighty minis with 998s in them or be brand new cars built specifically. We're really curious to see what happens with them, whether they're a success or not. What comes to mind initially is that whereas an engine swap on the 2cv takes us around 15 minutes, if a mini drops an engine I can't see it being swapped in less than 45 mins, and that generally the minis will be harder to maintain during the race as i cant imagine sustained high rpm with a mini engine is going to do it a lot of good. On the other hand, a mini is a solid lump of car that'll take a physical battering better although i cant see how heavily damaged minis will be repaired easily. I'm looking forward to seeing minis run with us, having had a few (28 odd actually) minis in my time and if it works out well I'd like to see them back in the future. The website doesn't give much info, I guess I'll just have to wait until August bank hols to find out. Be good to see some mini fans turn up and watch, although the 2cvs have been doing this for 20+ years there's barely a handful of 2cv owners ever turn up to support it. I'll be working on the #46/64 grease monkeys car, if anybody is running a mini and wants any 24hr racing advice, by all means come and say hi.

Ade was thinking of entering it but the Mighties already have 2 races this month so it's a lot of £££! We might go along and spectate though, I'm not sure whether any of the others are entering to be honest.
