little more progress today, shaped the inner sills and knocked in the drivers footwell, i'm gonna have to get a wide blade brick chisel to sort the channels in the floor, using a narrow blade chisel to do long channels isn't easy to keep it it neat, anyways a small pic

pretty much finished the floor today, got the cross member in, drilled a few holes for seat belt mounts on the exhaust tunnel, and footwell drainage holes etc next to it is a 2pint milk bottle to show the scale of it :P

With the size you are making it you should be able to easily RC it, nothing fast, but enough to run it around at a moderate speed. Perhaps some form of electric motor and a basic transmission in a fake a-series engine look alike shell with the battery cables run along the exhaust tunnel maybe hidden by a fake exhaust pipe with the electronics in the boot?

i was thinking this to begin with, i even bought a mini moto quad for the engine, rear axle, wheels etc but the dimensions are all way to big for the shell unfortunatly!
i don't want electric either as i want it to have proper exhaust smoke and a running engine, if i can get a strimmer engine small enough then i can still have it rwd though using the head drive to turn a diff at the rear ;) and i can have a proper little rc40 poking out the back! gonna start on the healboard next i think, build it from the floor up.

I'll be making the a-posts and b-posts and the roof support from square metal bar to form the basic shape and it also gives me a frame to weld the external panels to! will pick that up tomorrow!

I have a nitro engine with all the running gear etc

the fuel tank would even fit in the boot ;)

Oh can be run rwd or awd by the way ;)

i would use a nitro engine, but they can be a pain to start when been left standing for a period of time, so im gonna stick with my strimmer engine idea, plus the fuel is much cheaper! haha!

just ordered the wheels, managed to find some steels that are 1/4 scale of 10" wheels, making them 2.5" (or 63mm), might even try and band them so they actually match the full size version ;)

there are plenty of rc car wheels out there with wide/large tyres, im sure i could find something to suit! but looking at the pictures, i dont think ill need to band the wheels, as ill just run them the wrong way round...

if you look at the top left wheel, it looks like its got a deep dish!

Have a look at the hpi baja rc's for running gear ideas. You can get cheaper clones of the hpi too. Plenty of people upgrade them so std parts are often on auction sites.
I wouldn't advise nitro as you will have to think about airflow for cooling. I have quite a few hyper 7's sat in my rc cupboard they are smelly and oily, mind you so is a mini. Haha

thats why i thought about a strimmer engine, that way its all ready to drop in and already has the prop so i can run rwd, i'll just have to make a connector that mounts to a diff at the rear that will connect the shaft from the strimmer thus giving me forward motion ;)
