In the description it says no V5 and obviously can't go back on the road. In its current state it can't, but what is the reason for not being able to put it back on the road?
I'd be very interested if I could.

Failing that, what about getting it registered and applying for a time appropriate plate?
how are you going to prove the year it was made with no V5 or chassis number ?
putting it on the road with a Q plate would be the eaiser option

I don't really know much about how the DVLA works. I was hoping I could just prove that mini pick up production finished in 83 so they can give me an 83 plate

However, if the vehicle was in fact scrapped, would there not be issues putting it on even a q plate?

Although that was a class1 and not a class 4. The class 4 will have had an awful amount of its pickup bits removed, load bed, inner arches etc.
I'm sure its do-able as m-machine will have the panels.
It would be a lot of work though, if the owner has the original reg then that will solve the DVLA issues.
