hi just wanted to get some ideas from you guys about mounting 3 spotlights i aquired a couple of months back when i went to pick up some gear for the MGC GTS, only payed £30 for the 3 so i got away with a very good deal :D .

i dont know if i should mount then all at the same height or have the yellow 1 raised up a few inches, would be great to get some ideas, all are welcome and considered :P

all i know about them is that they are hella driving/spot lamps, are about 60's or 70's era, and are worth quite abit of money from research, so i want them to be secure as i know the same yellow lamps go for £100+ to collectors.

Here is a photo of the lamp barsd I use on my rally Minis. They use 2" x 1/4" aluminium strip and they can take 2, 3 or 4 lamps.
Brackets are 16 swg mild steel, 2" wide for the outer mounts and 1" wide for the centre one.

All the rally cars I've built for many years have exactly that bracket. I buy a length of 2" wide x 1/4" thick aluminium strip and some 16 sw (1.5 mm) thick sheet steel, then make up the bracket to the design you can see. I make up top steady straps from a pair of long Jubilee clips which go back to the front panel.
For rallying, my idea is that if I 'go off' and hit the front, the brackets supporting the lamp bar will bend before the front panel - it works, as I've proved!
With the depth of those Cibie Super Oscars I had to add a small extension piece to move the lamp base forward a bit, but for normal spots, including the famous Lucas SLR700, they fit without modification.
To bolt the mounting brackets to the front panel I use M5 RivNuts with socket head cap screws.
If you want, I've a photo of another rally 'S' with that lamp bar and 4 7" Lucas spot/driving lights on.
By the way, the centre strap is exended to meet the lower part of the front panel thus adding a bit of extra support.

You could always use an Italian job bar which hold the lamps in the position you laid out in your first post, looks really nice too as well!
