I recently bought a 12" subwoofer that will just about fit in my boot, it's brand new and will improve the audio in my car significantly
HOWEVER a couple of people have already warned me that it's gunna increase my fuel consumption a lot- I know it's more weight (think the sub weighs around 20kg) but will it be a noticeable difference? Cheers

If it does increase it will be hardly noticable.

any weight in a mini makes a difference, you will feel it, i planned to put a sub in, but my 6X9's were good enough for bass, makes my seats vibrate
also, it gives me more space in the boot without it for the more important stuff, i took my spare out as i dont go far enough and theres always someone who can bring me it if i need but, but i got the foam spray stuff just incase, but you've got to drive to accomidate it, so just drive it smooth and use your gears to slow you down in stead of harsh breaking. Also be aware that as the alternators arent that powerful in a mini, when you have everything on in, including lights, heater, heated window it may not even be charging your battery and your drawing to much current so it use the battery energy too, so i you play your music without the engine running, it'll drain your battery, therefore meaning you'll end up having to run it just to charge you battery, so if you do go for it, sometimes during the day when driving leave your radio off to give your battery a good charge, i learnt this the hard way, especially when its cold, makes the battery worse :/ but good luck with it :) if its done right it'll be good.

I'm over 100kg!
I'd effect your fuel economy more!

cant see that 20 k will would notice hardly any difference in performance
may be bit more in a 998 but 1275 no
and certainly not enough to worry about fuel particulary in a 1275
