had to weld an extra mounting plate on the boot
and blank off the old boot lock mounting.

then i had to shut the boot and work from inside the car to
position the solenoid, seems to work ok.

went to Bingley hall yesterday and spent some more dosh,,
bought;
2 door skins
a pair off quick release engine mounts
a set off grp 7 arches 'nice'
and a replacement external door hinge
all for £100. yipee

Alrite mate, nice project!! Just out of interest how much work did you have to do to fit the external hinge doors??
Rob
get some hinges, make a template to drill the holes, find the distance between hinges
and position from the bottom of the door, drill the holes, fit strengtheners behind hinges
and thats about it. think i might lighten the dorrs a bit as well.

I have the normal square section brace bars on my flip-front but I much prefer your round version.

I've just been taking a look at your photos on photobucket. Those brace bars for you flip-front look fantastic. Did you make them yourself?

Yes Luke, I made them at work using a manual pipe bender.

Woah Freddy, that looks flaming brutal! I also really like the idea with the boot solenoid, looks really trick. Are you going to use like a pneumatic boot lifter thing so that the door doesn't just open with a clunk?
I can't wait to see this done.
going to use a couple of gas struts that we use at work..

There could be a market for them! I would be interested in a set and maybe others would too.
