Awesome - all I can say, is take your time with it. Doing the A-Panels etc, is easy, but its when it gets to the doors, when its the PITA... If the A-Panels aren't quite right, the hinges don't work, or if the A-Panels are straight and you've not tightened the hinges up right... the door just won't open. I can't stress enough how much you need to take ur time lol

The hinges are still in the garage... But they'll be going on Flubber over the winter, when I can afford some new doors for him :turtle: No more having the lift & slam my doors again then :-

going to fit the doors and wedge in with wedges all round, then fit the a panel to line up with the door and tack in position
through drilled holes onto the hinge panel. take off door and finish a panel. re-fit door and wedge, offer up the hinges
to find position where the hinge arms are parallel when open and mark this position, make a template for the holes
offer this up then drill through, then i've got to make a stiffener plate for the inside of the a panel..

how does that sound ??

how much did you pay for your hinges ?

Hello there. Done a bit more this afternoon, been a bit lazy lately so I thought
I'd better get my arse into gear today.

boxed in the gap between the inner sill and the rear quarter panel, where
the rear bins should be, not having any bins.

primed up

also started on my fiberglass front, used the original bonnet hinges as I this
these are suitable for the job,

cut half the stiffener frame from the old bonnet

placed the front on the car and lined up, marked the the frame position under the front
then removed and fiberglassed in place

just had to tweak the flanges on the scuttles to allow the top rear of the
wing to pass.

Not bad , and no need for a fancy hinge setup :genius:

Thats an ingeniously simple way of doin the reverse flip front..... how come no-ones done that before! Do you not have any problems clearing the wheels or anythin else - i automatically assumed thats why it hadnt been done before. Well done!

Thanks for the comments,

Jetbick, the wheels are on with no problems, the only problem was the outer
part of the scuttle, this needed to be reshaped so the lower part didn't flare out,
as it stopped the top part of the wing passing, a bit hard to explain but if you've removed
a wing you'd know the bit i'm on about.
I decided to utilise my original hinge points as i couldn't see why you would need
alternative hinging as there is no real weight to carry, plus the front part of the bonnet
was rotten so it was scrap anyway, so no loss if it didn't work out.

Stanley and Neomi, sorry to say the flames have gone !! even though my lad wanted
me to keep them, bless him :dontgetit:

Mineeee, I don't smoke  Only when welding if i'm not carefull.

I was considering using mini boot hinges for the front on my old clubby,... but i must say,.. using those other hinges will look nice!.. a lot sleeker.

Went out tonight and sorted out the gas strut for
the front end, the way it is mounted it holds
the front open and when lowered it pulls the
front shut, best of both worlds. it is a 150 NM
strut which we use at work on the luggage lockers.

Handy working for a carriage builders :gimme:

That’s really a really good idea putting those bonnet strengtheners on.
