Got 13'' wheels as well so I think they will compensate a bit , worth a try anyway as I've got a spare gearbox I could use,

only means popping the engine back out if it's no good, would be a shame not to try...

Fair enough chap, give it a go.

I take all comments on board , But I still like to give things ago..

Had a slight problem with a tyre, been catching the inner wheel arch on the rear and has cut through the side wall... need to

refit the extra spacer I think

Started to sort out the twin carb mod, got an MGB manifold and twin 1 1/2 HIF carbs...

First had to split the manifold and reduce the mounting flange size as the mini bolts are closer together

20130716_210842_zpse8c36366.jpg

then had to alter the flange to allow the washers to sit flat

20130716_210924_zpsc2e4232d.jpg

next job is to trim the balance pipes

20130716_213835_zps624d9688.jpg

Bolt both parts in place to check alignment, the clean and prep for welding . p.s not cleaned and prepped

in this photo.

Fitted the carbs to see what they look like :-)

20130717_203558_zpsc8eae688.jpg

Took them work and welded together also block off two threaded holes

Mmmmm. not tried yet, but was running an 1 3/4 Hif which was ok, Had twin 1 1/2 HS's at one point but the needle

housings fouled a bit these have more clearance, Just the manifold angle which I have not looked at , but if this needs

altering i'll have to get the hack saw out again.. The joy of bespoke modifications.....

Might make a plenum chamber with stubby bellmouths and probably

have a front mounted conical air filter, or if there is enough room a

Piper sport foam filter on the carbs..

Or what about a plenum and Turbo/ twin carb arrangement........... :-)

Im no guru with electric wizardry haha but i,ve just checked and it say "DCinverter" on the front..

I'l jot that down then, i know welding cast on steel is different/harder to welding sheet steel so is ally cast and sheet the same as steel ? sorry for all the questions :/

Sorry bud but you can't weld ally with a DC inveter tig , it needs to be an AC / DC set or a DC set fitted with a Thyristor to alternate the current.. Dc uses a negative wave to apply the current ( direct current) , AC uses positive and negative hense Alternating current. positive wave breaks the oxide layer on the material and the negative wave penetrates the ally ( adds heat), I believe my description is correct...

But you can use a MIG welder if you use a Teflon liner in the torch and Argon gas

Learn something new every day, i'd always wondered about that!

Looking forward to seeing how that manifold works out, looks promising.
