I like MK1 rear lights but as you've deseemed it out back I think it would look nicer with a later set of lights (with reverse) than going MK1 and having to find somewhere for a reverse and fog.

Looks good. You made more progress than me this weekend!

made my light conversion plates and the light mounting
tubes, plates need trimming down to suit, tubes will be
recessed into plates.

Ooh funkay. Well done for making your own! Make sure the lamps stick out a little so as they are visible from side view. Its a legality I think.

took this photo in 86/87, not doing them like
those i'm going fit the tubes flush to the
inside of the conversion plates, so the lense
will be visible from the side.

not sure whether it is a requirement for rear lights to
be visible from the sides though

Freddy...

You are a restoration guru!!!

I only hope I can do a project like this in the future... Probably when I retire!!!

Like the frenching of the lights though. I have always though of doing this, i think i am gonna make mine bigger though, and put the fog and reverse lamps frenched into a smoothed bootlid. Fell free to pinch his idea as i would love to see what it turns out like! lol.

Mate, i stand in awe to your dedication

Keep it up! (the car that is! )

Ahh, i thought you where going to stick them in slightly so that the outer end was level with bodywork, not the inner edge.

don't you approve Ed4ran !!
when i've finished elongating the hole with a
rotary file ( which I left at work  )i'll have a look and see
whether they look better the other way.( ie slightly frenched)
