The handle and cable are from a Mercedes sprinter van back door, the lock is a lock we had hanging around.. looking at changing for a double locking and hoop lock ( similar to a mini door lock) .

Been following this thread for years, love the look of it.

Always thought it could do with a bit more than the standard A series though, get over to 16vmini and have a look around, conversions can be done cheaply if you can do enough of the work yourself.

Good luck with whatever happens after this, anyway!

Seriously considering it, after all the trouble I've had with engines, will be fitting the a series I have already but am looking at selling the two 1275 blocks I have, if I can get enough for them I'll look at going 16v :-)

I got £250 for my old 1275 engine and 'box. Bought my donor Rover 214 for £250.

If i'd kept it simple (I went for bike carbs, and had to do a load of repairs to my shell) I wouldn't have spent much at all. Just the outlay of steel for the front subby, an MPi rad, and the sleeving of the driveshafts.

Merry Christmas by the way mate!

thanks , merry xmas to you , I'm only selling the blocks , but do have two gearboxes . looking to use early metro
hubs , have already got 4pots and discs ready to go on. can do all the subby and bulkhead work myself. would like
to keep it in the standard front end...

Seeing all the work you've done to this car already, a 16v swap is well within your ability.

Follow that link in my previous post, and have a look around the builds section. I'd say the best options for you would be Rover or Vauxhall 8v.

Suzuki are a bit thin on the ground, and Honda (from what I can tell, but only from looking at pictures) look a bit difficult to squeeze under a standard nose.

If you're willing to take the car off the road for a bit, then the possibility is there.
