OOOOOPPPPPSSSSS , think I found the problem !!!!! removed the bigend cap and found the
shell coating had been worn through . also noticed that the key had been partly flattened . so
the shell must have mooved round when I fitted it.






new shell set been ordered and gaskets ...... oh well....

Waiting for the shells to arrive ,have stripped and cleaned the head , also lapped in the valves . Modded the oil pick up pipe and refitted it.Have also pre-lined the crank and refitted that.

are you not going to give the crank a going over or is it ok?

crank looks fine , had a good look over it .

decoked the head and re-seated the valves yesterday , was pretty cacked
up from before I re-ringed, I didn't clean it before I rebilt the block last time .....
looks better now



Also modded the oil feed pipe , checked and re-lubed the crank mains ready for the re-build

re- assembled the head and found that I also have a bent push rod .... oh well....

got to buy a new piston to go on the replacement rod ..... another £45

just got a full set of rods and pistons the type I need off Fleebay for £57 , ..... re-build will
soon commence...

the only problem now is that James1275sprite's build is pushing me towards turboing Ratty......
I've been scouring Ebay , but James may have a spare one....

Finally got the new rods and pistons, had to collect them from
the Citylink depot in the end, they look in very good condition
i might change them all !




will be out later resuming the build..

if i did i would modify the bulkhead and the rear part of the subframe to allow an lcb to be modded
to fit a turbo...

Damn......... went to fit the clutch housing didn't realise the motion shaft support
bearings were different sizes , damaged the plastic bearing race so I have to get
a new one... oh well a least it's one less part to fail......
