working out how to do it is the hard part. might be easier to utilise hinges of another

i sort of stole the internal boot hinge idea from the rat for my project but couldn't get my home fabricated ones to work. found bonnet hinges are just right for the job ;D

spent most of the day sorting the exhaust , making some sprung bonnet
pins and fitting a vent pipe to the block to reduce the crank pressure..

what I decided to do is take off the mechanical fuel pump blanking plate
drill a large hole in it and fit a radiator vent pipe, also had to open out the
packer to allow the nut to be fitted..

parts before assembly

Also fitted the battery isolator / aux socket inside the car , not got a
pic at the moment..

Looks good,

Where does the pipe go to from the crankcase vent you made?

it drop down the back of the rad at the moment, i'll either stick a breather filter on it or
use a catchment tank, could do with going into the air filter but i haven't got a connection
avaliable..

I saw the rat at stanford hall too, definately agree with mini_mad69. It looks awesome! All of the custom work really made it stand out, i ended up going back a few times to have another look. Top quality too, none of the wavy panels etc that usually ruin deseamed minis. Was pretty much my car of the show to be honest.

Thanks for that, really makes all the work worthwhile when you get comments like that :D
Apparently while I was on walkabout someone from Miniworld came over with a f**k off camera
at took loads of pics of The Rat , so It may be in the mag in a month or two, I suppose in a show
review..

ps , why didn't you say hi or wasn't I around....

I was in two minds whether to put it in the custom class, but when I went over I saw one chap
cleaning the tread on his tyres and shining them up, a bit extreme in my opinion as I think
that type of stuff detracts from the work put into customising a car.. plus I don't class a
domino kit or a wappy paint scheme (dayglo coloured interior) as real customising.
But that's just me i suppose...
