so I had to chop a section out of the tank and weld
it back up, to allow the hinge to return. all ok now.
I have got to make a new bracket to retain the tank..
bought some more window film to tint the door glass, got one window done, then had
a nightmare with the other, totally wasted the rest of the film. got to get some more
now

If you chop anymore out of the tank, you will be stopping at every petrol station along every road lol , anyway, its getting there now .
it'll be economical 50 mls per tank LOL...

Nice work on that tank bracket, looks solid. Think I'm going to have enough trouble finding where the standard one was supposed to go
Cheers, really pleased with it, supports the tank really well and doesnt
take up too much room , got to get some flexi cable trunking for
the pump wire to go through.

I've looked at the tank mounting problem before, your idea looks good, and obviously solid, but maybe just a little less designed than other features on the car. I can't help thinking there is a potentially excellent solution waiting in the wings - use the early type support at the bottom that the flange round the tank can locate against then make a simple bracket with captive nut that will allow a bolt to be put throught the hole BL/Rover conveniently gave us on the top flange.
eventually I will be making an ally sparewheel well mounted tank, this is temporary so
I can get Ratty on the road , ( thats my excuse) !!!!!
