And take the dizzy rotor arm with you, I always do :)

Your trying to tell me you take the dizzy cap off and remove the rotor arm everytime you leave your car?
You sir are mad. But fair enough, il be round yours in the morning with a spare rotor arm :')

If i was going to about stealing Minis, id make sure i had things like leads/rotor arms etc etc just incase the sneaky owner had removed them.. :')

For the scrotty opportunist theif, a disklok will be a good deterrent, as will some sort of alarm/fake flashy LED alarm.
Iv got a simple steering wheel lock on mine, just whack that on and do something else that means the car wont start without knowing about something being somewhere and leave it at that.

Iv also got a cushion in the back with a picture of a bulldog on it which is quite the deterrent.
Also theres some rusty patches visible which helps it being less attractive to steal and/or ship away.

A steering lock bar just means they have to break or cut the steering wheel, but it does slow them a little.

The alarm, removable wheel are good ideas, the only drawback is one is costly and the other cumbersome.

Another good Idea is to add a hidden 3 way switch to your iginition line.
You set it up so one way turns the horn on and the other way completes the ignintion line on so you can start the car.
That way if they do find it you'll have a good chance you'll hear the horn.

If you want to go a little further you can have a relay under the hood that you have to manually shut the horn off by turning the relay off once it's activated.

It may be enough of a deterent for the thieves to run away.

3 way switch seems a good idea, might have to look in to that when I re-do my dash and some of my loom.

I think I'll invest in a removable steering wheel eventually.

Sure do  Must have done it around 1000 times now, can open the bonnet, remove it, put the dizzy cap back on and shut the bonnet in about 7 seconds ;-) Well worth it if it stops some joyrider from nicking and trashing/burning out your Mini! Obviously wont stop "expert" thieves but I doubt joyriders will have the exact right rotor arm on them. Also have a Disklok :)

Massive thanks for all these replies, I shall be looking to get a disklok as they do seem the best. I also like GTIAlex's method of visable rust and a bulldog cushion on the back seat LMAO brilliant!!

Back in the 1970's you could buy a hydraulic anti-theft lock which was piped into the brake lines...........it consisted of a valve with yale security key which once set would lock the brakes on when the brake pedal was pressed. You could either set the brakes locked on before leaving the car or leave them set so that a potential thief would go no further after first press of the brakes. It was also wired into the ignition to prevent the engine starting when set on for security and incase owner forgot to release it with the security key before driving off. It was made by a long gone company in Richmond, Surrey called Autolock and was originally sold to prevent lorries being hijacked for their loads. I had the same one fitted on my various Mini's for about 15 years before it finally stopped working...........still have it and the instruction handbook somewhere.
